Politics in the People's Republic of Graecia take place in a framework of Totalitarian Non-Partisan Graeco-Communist Socialist State. The Government has two branches (instead of three): The Acting, vested in the all-powerfull office of the Premier, and the judicial, which is managed by the Supreme Court of the People's Republic of Graecia. The judicial's independence is guaranteed by the Constitution. While Graecia is a unitary state, the Constitution guarantees that, if deemed necessary, an Autonomous People's Republic may be created. Currently, only one such entity excists, the Dervenian Autonomous People's Republic, located on Planet Argon. Currently, Graecia is the only socialist and the only two-branch nation on Micras, and currently, one of the few totalitarian states on it. As such, it is considered one of the most special nations on Micras; This "uniqueness", is not viewed by all nations as a good thing. Some say that Graecia can be classified as an ultimate dictatorship, which uses communism as a form of legitimacy. Others, however, have praised the State of not been mainstream (most of them Graecians).

Constitution

If you want to read the constitution, please see Constitution of Graecia

The Graecian Constitution (officially known as The Official Constitution of the People's Republic of Graecia), is the supreme document which sets out the operational rules of the state. It contains 7 sections (2 without Chapters), 12 chapters, and 112 articles. It was drafted by the Premier and approved by the Supreme Court of the People's Republic of Graecia on AN 1687. The constitution laids down the basic provisions about the structure of the state, the economy, the citizenship and the citizen's rights, the official insignia of the State, and it's official force. The Graecian Constitutions is praised by the Graecians for it's good writing and it's tone, but the ones who criticize it claim that it contains so much loopholes, that the ones with high powers (mainly the Premier) can easily abuse their powers without been barred so by it.

State ideology

See also: The Reforms for National Reorganisation (Graecia).

The People's Republic of Graecia claims to work under the principles of Graeco-Communism. This was made official after The Reforms for National Reorganisation. Eugene Friedrichsen, the creator of Graeco-Communism, states that this is a different form of communism. A vanguard political party is not needed, since it may become very corrupted, and be a harm to the state's progress in many ways. The state is secular instead of atheist, so, the citizens have some more liberty on the religion they may practice (but not much, however). Also, some aspects of the economy become more liberal, however, the economy strictly remains under the control of the state. Some say that this last provision has barely any effect, and that Graecia does not differ from a normal communist state in this aspect. Graecia is a hard-liner communist state, and the only socialist state on Micras. This makes it unique, and has affected the diplomatic stance on it from some other nations. The Graecian State states that it will have very friendly relations with any communist state (as this, they say, helps the universal need for pan-Micras socialism), like no visa requirements; The fact that there is no other socialist state makes these provisions vacant.

Administrative organs

Premier

The Premier of the People's Republic of Graecia (the Premier, for short) is the highest office on the state. His role is deemed all-powerful, been both head of state and head of goverment, and having under his control most the Acting branch of government.

The Flag of the Premier

The constitution claims that the Premier must be under the strict check of the Regional People's Councils and the Supreme Court of the People's Republic of Graecia (see below). The Premier may be kicked from office with an unanimous request from all Regional People's Councils and the approval of the Supreme Court. A new Premier, when receiving the position, must immediately announce his successor. This successor may be changed at every time, and must be first approved by the Regional People's Councils in order to receive the office, should the original Premier loses it.

Regional People's Councils

The Regional People's Councils are the mass gathering of the people of a city to discuss about politics and make petitions to change laws, modify other positions, etc. Every major city, on the Graecian mainland or in an Autonomous People's Republic, has such a council; Participation on theese is mandatory for people over 18. In theory, these councils are given relatively high power by the constitution; They are even able to impeach the Premier, after all of them make an common request on the Supreme Court. They are given full power to determine things about their city, the areas surrounding it; they can also have informal "relations" with other cities, through their respective Councils. In practice, however, the ones having more power than them have found legal loopholes to manipulate their decisions. Even considered this, their opinions are mostly respected.

Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of the People's Republic of Graecia is the most senior court in Graecia, holding the judicial governmental branch. It mostly functions as an overseer of the governmental functions and other subordinate courts, and as a court of appeal. It is the only court who has the right to impose a death penalty. The Constitution guarantees it's independence and gives it a number of high power functions; Usually, the Supreme Court is hard to deceive and defraud (although some say that they helped in creating legal loopholes).
