Biographical information

Patrik Djupvik (born 1643 AN, aged 87 years) was a Shirerithian-born Hurmu politician and statesman, Regent of the Lakes (since 1720), former Prime Minister of the Lake District (1695–1701; 1719–1720) former senator (1690–1716), and former Prime Minister of Hurmu (1713–1716). He belonged to the United Ayreonist–Traditionalist Faction. Served as chair of the Supervisory Council of Cisamarra 1717–1729, and Member of the Council of Shared Sovereignty of Oystra Stoorskerið 1717–1729.

The son of Valdemar Djupvik (1609– ) and Trine Katterud (1612– ), his paternal grandsfather Nilu Sólason being a Hurmu émigré, Patrik Djupvik was born in Shirekeep, but grew up in a conservative household of good standing in Konungsheim (Elijah's Rest). Having always been interested in politics but outshone by his aunt Liv Djupvik, he led a quiet and discrete life in Normark, mainly focusing on business in the banking and insurance sectors. In 1689, he decided he would try help his ancestral country by providing his financial skills to it. By 1690, a traditionalist set of members of the Order of the Holy Lakes nominated him to their list for the senate election. He was subsequently elected to the Senate the same year. He is considered a fiscally conservative member of the Senate who scrutinises every single bill for its effects on the taxpayer. Re-elected in 1695 and in 1701.

In 1713, he was named Prime Minister of Hurmu following the previous year's elections. He resigned the premiership and his seat in the Senate during the 1716–1717 Hurmu political crisis.

Married to Mikaela Klaron (born 1645), he has two sons, Samuel (1668) and Johannes (1670). The younger of these two caused quite a few scandals in Normark before going on to redeem himself during the Barikalus-Hurmu war.

Patrik enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren as well as hiking.

Assassination

On 14.X.1729, Djupvik was assassinated when going from his office to his official vehicle. The perpetrator, a member of the Partito Nazionalista e Umanista in Cisamarra named Assunto Fittipaldi, stepped up to Djupvik on the sidewalk, spoke some words to him, before he pulled out a revolver and shot him three times. He then turned the revolver on the driver, but the weapon jammed. He then proceeded to hastily leave the scene of the murder. The driver and passers-by provided first aid to Djupvik, but the wounds sustained where too severe for him to survive. A massive manhunt conducted by the Vesüha Valvur, in which the airport, trains and roads out of the city were shut down, resulted in the apprehension of Fittipaldi within five hours.
