The Order of Succession to the Kaisership is determined by the Imperial Charter of Shireroth and decrees made under it. It is also the order of succession to the thrones of Normark, Sathrati, the Duchy of Brookshire, Talenore, and, possibly by certain interpretations, of Ransenar. The question of Ransenar's succession is, however, not definite.

Rules

A simplified version of the rules are as follows:

  1. Only legitimate heirs of the body of Kaiser Ayreon IV are allowed to succeed.
  2. Elder sons and daughters and their descendants have precedence over younger sons and daughters and their descendants
  3. No discrimination based on gender
  4. Legitimacy is ranked: the child from a marriage ranks higher than the child from concubinage, the child from a concubinage ranks higher than the child from courtesan.
  5. The Kaiser may remove persons from the order of succession, acting as if they were dead (e.g. if Jeremy is removed from the order of succession, as if he were dead, his eldest child will take his place instead)

Current Order of Succession

  1. Kir Azariah Vidar (b. 1667, eldest brother of the Kaiseress, Kian's twin)
  2. Kian Aiomide Shahnaz (b. 1667, younger sister of the Kaiseress, Kir's twin)
  3. Rubin Leonid Orientalis (b. 1671, youngest brother of the Kaiseress, born posthumously to Kaiser Ayreon IV)

Previous orders of succession

1671

Following the death of Kaiser Ayreon IV and the accession of Kaiseress Salome, but before the birth of Rubin Leonid Orientalis

  1. Kir Azariah Vidar (b. 1667, eldest brother of the Kaiseress, Kian's twin)
  2. Kian Aiomide Shahnaz (b. 1667, younger sister of the Kaiseress, Kir's twin)

1667–1671

In 1667, Kaiser Ayreon IV had twins, pushing Aldin, David and Abigail down in the order of succession.

  1. Salome Ylva Octavia (b. 1665, Ayreon's eldest daughter)
  2. Kir Azariah Vidar (b. 1667, Ayreon's second child, Kian's twin)
  3. Kian Aiomide Shahnaz (b. 1667, Ayreon's third child, Kir's twin)

1665–1667

In 1665, Kaiser Ayreon IV had a daughter, Salome, with his concubine Isidora.

  1. Salome Ylva Octavia (b. 1665, Ayreon's eldest daughter)

1664–1665

In 1664, the Charter was amended to restrict the succession to the heirs and successors of Kaiser Ayreon IV. Between 1664 and 1665, no persons filled the criteria for succession.

1661–1664

In 1661, Aldin had a daughter, Abigail Jayna Noor:

  1. Zahir al Din Benjamin Rai (Prince Aldin) (b. 1630, Noor's eldest living son)
  2. David Raion (b. 1657, Aldin's only son)
  3. Abigail Jayna Noor (b. 1661, Aldin's daughter)

1657–1661

In 1657, Aldin had a son, David Raion:

  1. Zahir al Din Benjamin Rai (Prince Aldin) (b. 1630, Noor's eldest living son)
  2. David Raion (b. 1657, Aldin's only son)

1656–1657

In 1656, the marriage between Noah and Noor had been annulled, causing the children of that "union" to be illegitimate and ineligible for succession:

  1. Zahir al Din Benjamin Rai (Prince Aldin) (b. 1630, Noor's eldest living son)

1653–1656

In 1653, Vilhjalm changed his name to Villy and contracted a loyal subjecthood, thus becoming ineligible to succession:

  1. Zahir al Din Benjamin Rai (Prince Aldin) (b. 1630, Noor's eldest living son)
  2. Esther Fatima Gudrid (b. 1638, Noor's daughter with Noah)

1650–1653

After the accession of Vidar Ayreon as Kaiser Ayreon IV:

  1. Zahir al Din Benjamin Rai (Prince Aldin) (b. 1630, Noor's son with Nathaniel)
  2. Vilhjálm Daniel Gudrödar (b. 1635, Noor's son with Noah)
  3. Esther Fatima Gudrid (b. 1638, Noor's daughter with Noah)

1648–1650

  1. Vidar Salim Livarson (b. 1645)
  2. Zahir al Din Benjamin Rai (Prince Aldin) (b. 1630, Noor's eldest living son with Nathaniel)
  3. Vilhjálm Daniel Gudrödar (b. 1635, Noor's son with Noah)
  4. Esther Fatima Gudrid (b. 1638, Noor's daughter with Noah)
