The Octavian Import-Export Corporation (OIEC) is a consortium of Nova English investors and the Kalgachi government, the former wielding nominal control of the corporation by majority ownership and appointing its chairman, although its board of directors is split evenly between Nova English and Kalgachi executives.
The corporation serves as a vehicle for trade between the Garden of Kalgachia and Nova England, also acting as an intermediary venue between Kalgachia and the USSO Common Market. As Kalgachia is not a USSO member, the Nova English government enjoys the right to exact unlimited duties and tariffs on OIEC trade passing through Nova England, even when it does not benefit Nova England directly.
