Obedience Destruction

The Destruction by the Obedience Machine, or Obedience Destruction (or by some Shirerithians called the Semi-Regularly-Occurring Apocalypse in Jingdao), was an event which happened in Jingdao during the final days of the Dashi Emperor. It led to destruction of most large cities, the temporary collapse of the government and the death of the Heavenly Light. Nuclear blasts by the Jingdaoese own Defence Program led to the annihilation of large city centres, but who activated the Obedience Machine is still unknown and part of debate. Current estimates suggest that between 250 and 300 million Jingdaoese citizens lost their life during the Obedience Destruction, the Jingdaoese population counted around 500 million souls at the time.

Building the Obedience Machine

The Jingdaoese Grand Secretariat saw itself faced with an enormous task to integrate the lands of the former Apollonian Confederation into the Jingdaoese Empire. The Haigui Emperor had successfully convinced Apollonian leaders that Her leadership would benefit them most, and in 1623 AN, the decision was made in Her favour. The agreement, however, made the Jingdaoese masters over an Empire which had a large population (over 500 million) of very diverse races and cultures.

To avoid that the people would ever revolt against their leaders, the Obedience Machine was created: beneath several cities a bunker with nuclear bombs was built and in the end locked down. Only the Obedience Machine would be able to launch the Defence Program and blow up cities, depending on the news it received concerning the amount of treason in those places.

The Machine activates

In 1631 Servant 07381112, responsible for reading the daily logs from the Obedience Machine, received the news of a successful destruction of most of the country. [1]
