The New Batavia - South Sea Islands Friendship Treaty is an international agreement concluded between the South Sea Islands and New Batavia. Recognizing the benefits of cooperation between close neighbours, the friendship, mutual recognition and non-aggression treaty was signed 1594 AN. In a spirit of kinship and cooperation, the text was ratified by simultaneous meetings of the Majlis-ash-Shoera and Legislative Assembly.

Text of the Treaty

Vriendschaps- en niet-aanvalsverdrag tussen de Islamitische Republiek Nieuw-Batavië en het Gemenebest der Zuidzee-eilanden

De President van de Islamitische Republiek Nieuw-Batavië, De Koning van het Gemenebest der Zuidzee-eilanden, elkaar ontmoet hebbend, elkaars belangen gemeenschappelijk vindend, verlangend om hun contacten te formaliseren en te verzekeren, zijn overeen gekomen hetgeen volgt:

Artikel 1: De Islamitische Republiek Nieuw-Batavië en het Gemenebest der Zuidzee-eilanden erkennen elkaars soevereiniteit and het recht op zelfbestuur van hun staat, hun volkeren en van hun overheidsinstellingen.

Artikel 2: De hoge verdragsluitende partijen erkennen elkaar als de rechtmatige eigenaar van al het grondgebied dat zij opvorderen op de kaart van de MCS en met toestemming van de Raad van de MCS.

Artikel 3: De hoge verdragsluitende partijen verbinden zich ertoe om alle onderlinge geschillen vredevol op te lossen, gebruik makend van een door hun beide aangeduide derde neutrale partij, indien dit langs normale kanalen onmogelijk blijkt.

Artikel 4: De hoge verdragsluitende partijen blijven open en toegankelijk voor elkaars toeristen en andere bezoekers, met uitzondering van nationale noodsituaties and situaties met betrekking tot de veiligheid.

Artikel 5: De hoge verdragsluitende partijen zullen formele communicatiekanalen open houden ten einde dialoog en samenwerking in de toekomst mogelijk te maken.

Artikel 6: De hoge verdragsluitende partijen zullen geen open of geheime militaire operaties tegen elkaars volkeren of overheidsinstellingen houden noch ondersteunen.

Artikel 7: Dit verdrag kan enkel worden geamendeerd na het akkoord van beide hoge verdragsluitende partijen. Elke tegengestelde actie is nietig.

Artikel 8: Dit verdrag zal in werking treden na de ratificatie ervan door beide hoge verdragsluitende partijen in overeenstemming met hun nationale grondwettelijke procedures.

Artikel 9: De hoge verdragsluitende partijen kunnen dit vedrag opzeggen op voorwaarde van een vooropzeg van twee Gregoriaanse weken.

Ten blijke waarvan, hebben de voormelde hoge verdragsluitende partijen genaamtekend en hun zegels aangehecht.

Friendship and Non-Aggression Pact between the Islamic Republic of New Batavia and the Commonwealth of the South Sea Islands

The President of the Islamic Republic of New Batavia, The King of the Commonwealth of the South Sea Islands, having met, finding each other's interests in common, desiring to formalize and secure their contacts, have agreed as follows:

Article 1: The Islamic Republic of New Batavia and the Commonwealth of the South Sea Islands recognize each other's sovereignty and the right to self-government of their state, their peoples and their governmental institutions.

Article 2: The High Contracting Parties recognize each other as the rightful owners of all territory they claim on the map of the MCS with the consent of the Council of the MCS.

Article 3: The High Contracting Parties undertake to settle all disputes between them peacefully, using a neutral third party designated by each of them, if this proves impossible through normal channels.

Article 4: The High Contracting Parties shall remain open and accessible to each other's tourists and other visitors, with the exception of national emergencies and security-related situations.

Article 5: The High Contracting Parties will keep formal channels of communication open to facilitate dialogue and cooperation in the future.

Article 6: The High Contracting Parties shall not conduct or support open or covert military operations against each other's peoples or government agencies.

Article 7: This Convention may be amended only after the agreement of both High Contracting Parties. Any contrary action is null and void.

Article 8: This Convention shall enter into force upon its ratification by both High Contracting Parties in accordance with their national constitutional procedures.

Article 9: The High Contracting Parties may denounce this Convention subject to two Gregorian weeks' notice.

In witness whereof, the aforementioned High Contracting Parties have signed and affixed their seals.
