National Memorial Park to the Glory of the Society

The National Memorial Park to the Glory of the Society is a memorial park that is currently under construction in Senya. Sitting on the mouth of the Camoleo River, roughly 85 km south-east of the city of Port Nelson, the park will serve as both a recreational space and a home to several monuments and museums that are dedicated to the achievements of the Senyan people. The park is the planned home of the Statue of Barnaby. The park is currently under construction and is due to be inaugurated in late 1690 AN.

The park is both a celebration of Senya and of peace and the principles of international co-operation which Senya has been at the forefront of promoting on Micras, whilst also providing an area in Northern Senya for outdoor recreation and art exhibitions.

Construction on the Park began in earnest on 1 XI 1690 AN, with the park being opened in stages. The full opening is expected to take place in 1691 AN.

Botanical Garden

There is a large botanical garden that is open to the public and includes a wide variety of different plants from across Micras. It is one of the few places outside of the Dark Berry Islands where the Ascophosynus bushes are found. The gardens are located on the top of the ridge that overlooks the sea/river front, with a botanical themed restaurant and bar that overlooks the ridge's edge. The restaurant serves a number of different foods from across Micras, particularly plant based meals which are all grown on site.

There is a separate communal allotment which is used as an educational facility to teach people about how to grow their own foods and vegetables, which was opened by the Senyan television star Imë Gîmer, who is famed for her shows where she teaches viewers about gardening and growing food.

Restaurants, bars and food vendors

The park has a number of eateries within its lands, including the aforementioned garden restaurant. This includes two pubs, The Senyan and The Old Farmer, as well as a vineyard that also serves food. Several independent eateries serving a wide variety of foods and snacks are also scattered around the park, including several vegan and vegetarian options as well as several fish vendors, who are predominantly located close to the riverside. Close to the Statue of Barnaby, there is a general shop that sells souvenirs as well as ice-creams, chocolates and other miscellaneous junk foods. There are no chain restaurants or food vendors in the park, and all food vendors in the park are required to use recyclable packaging.

Sports and recreational facilities

The park is also home to several sports facilities, including 12 tennis courts and 10 grass pitches, which include a full size football and a full size rugby pitch, along with 8 smaller size grass pitches which can be used for either sport. There is also a public swimming pool, which also includes a spa section and two pools, a water park and an athletics track. All of these facilities can be booked and used by the public, though sometimes they are reserved for specific events. There are also shooting and archery rangers that can be rented.

The entire park is connected up through a series of promenades and cycle/foot paths, with bicycles being available for hire at several places throughout the park. A highlight for many tourists is to take a bicycle ride through the park to enjoy the views and to get between locations.

Woodlands

Much of the park away from the coastal areas is covered in woodland, with many woodland activities being offered. There are three woodland assault courses and two tree-top aerial courses that can be done, in addition to several woodland walks and art exhibitions and instillations, including some of the sculptures. The woodlands offer opportunities for both leisure cycling and mountain biking.

The Senyan Forestry Commission maintains the woodlands, with many of the trees within the park being protected.

Monuments

The park is home to several monuments which are installed around the park's grounds.

The Statue of Barnaby

The Statue of Barnaby was erected onto a plinth on an artificial island built just 100 metres off the shore. The statue will stand on a plinth which measures 20 metres wide by 10 metres deep and 10 metres tall. The new island itself measures is perfectly spherical, with a diameter of 200 metres, with the exception of a jetty which allows boat services to and from the island. In addition to the statue, the island is also home to a small gift shop, a prayer area reserved for the exclusive use of Barbarian refugees, as well as a memorial to those who died during the violence surrounding the collapse of Barbary, in addition to the flags of Senya, Barbary, Sankt Ludwigshafen and Jingdao, which fly from flagpoles which are raised from the plinth on which the statue sits, though at a 45 degree angle so as not to impair the view of the statue.

The statue is located 33 km from Jingdao, and on clear days is visible from there, though it may appear too small to make out in much detail, though this can be overcome through the use of binoculars or telescopes.

The Fraternity of Nations

The Fraternity of Nations is a monument to the role of Senya as a neutral power on Micras, with the country having mediated several conficts, being the home of international institutions, being one of the few nations on Micras which maintains positive diplomatic relations with every other state on Micras. The monument features a sculpture of a man and woman holding a torch, which produces an eternal flame. The sculpture is 8 metres high and is surrounded in a circle by all the flags of the nations of Micras.

National Sculptures

Dotted around the park are several sculptures which celebrate other nations on Micras. Each sculpture was commissioned by an artist from that country, and contains a sculpture 5m high that depicts something relevant to that country. Accompanying the sculpture is the flag of that country. The sculpture will rest atop of a 1.2 metre high plinth on which the plaque is rested, alongside pictures and details of the history of that country.
