The Aftokratorikó Genikó Epiteleío (Imperial General Staff) is formed from the Aftokratorikí Frourá (Imperial Guard), itself consisting of the military households of the Basilusa and the Autokrator, as well as the Athánatoi (Immortals), a ten-thousand strong elite guards division.
