==History==


Of the 111,527 Modanese troops brought into Inner Benacia by the Prince of Modan after the Red Mortality; 14% remained loyal after the [[Modanese Migration]] and the abolition of statehood, 5% succumbed to the [[White Plague]],  46% deserted, and 35% joined the partisans.

After remaining in barracks during the coup of the Dolmen against Shirerithian aspects of the civil administration in the [[Republic of Inner Benacia]], the "Forward Echelon" of forces deployed into Inner Benacia were effectively abandoned to their fate after the Imperial Government sealed the frontier and made no further acknowledgement of their fate. A number of officers and men, typically those outside of cantonment when the siege began and unable to reach the Imperial frontier, [[Tales from Kalgachia - 40|fled across the border]] into to [[Kalgachia]], of whom an indeterminate number subsequently alleged to have defected with the remainder reported as having being repatriated.
