The Treaty between Hurmu and the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie on confirming the Treaty of Ciudad Howard and on protection of Hurmu ruins and other cultural sites, known as the Hurmu Ruins Treaty is a treaty between Hurmu and Nouvelle Alexandrie with regard to protection of ancient Hurmu ruins in Nouvelle Alexandrie's territories on Lyrica. The Treaty also confirms the old treaty of Ciudad Howard which was signed by New Alexandria under its previous name, Alduria-Wechua.

It was signed in Vesüha on 8.IX.1694 AN by Senator Jan Spiik for Hurmu and King Manco Cápac I for Nouvelle Alexandrie on 10.IX.1694 AN. It will thereafter undergo ratification proceedings in both countries.

Text of the Treaty

Treaty between Hurmu and the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie on confirming the Treaty of Ciudad Howard and on protection of Hurmu ruins and other cultural sites

Article 1

This Treaty confirms the Treaty of Ciudad Howard of 9.IV.1691. The Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie is confirmed the legal successor to the Federation of Alduria and the Wechua Nation.

Article 2

  1. The Order of the Holy Lakes is recognized as a legal person under the law of the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie.
  2. The Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie commits, within its territory, to protect the Hurmu ruins of Jakrestad and Tjootahite. Their maintenance and protection, and any archaeological surveys, shall be made in collaboration with the Order of the Holy Lakes.
  3. Pilgrimage and tourism to the ruins shall remain permissible but may, from time to time, be restricted for archaeological or other lawful and reasonable purposes.
  4. In the event that archaeological remains related to Hurmu or the Order of the Holy Lakes are found in the territory of the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie, outside the ruin areas, surveys shall be conducted by the government of the Federation of Nouvelle-Alexandrie. Reports and recovered items shall be sent to the Museum, as indicated in Section 6.
  5. The costs for upholding this article, except for section 6, shall be shared jointly and severally by the Contracting Parties.
  6. The site of the former Temple of the Lakes, now located in Lausanne, shall return to the ownership of the Order of the Holy Lakes. The Order of the Holy Lakes shall on these grounds fund and erect a museum to house such Hurmu artefacts that may be found in the territory of the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie.

Article 3

This Treaty shall be ratified by the High Contracting Parties in a manner consistent with their constitutional requirements. This Treaty enters force immediately upon the exchange of ratification, which shall occur in Vesüha as soon as possible.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF the duly authorized Plenipotentiaries of the High Contracting Parties have signed this Treaty.
