Haiwai is a former province in Jingdao. It consisted of the districts Badawei with Wuqi as its main city, and Andilie with Hexiehaizei as its main city. Because of the great distance between the districts, the provincial governor had its seat in the imperial capital Daocheng, roughly in the middle. In XIII.1688 the Haiwai province was transferred to Barbary in exchange for the Jingdaoese former capital Zijincheng.
Etymology
The name Haiwai means overseas, as both the districts are far away territories while all other provinces of Jingdao lie on Apollonia.
