The Greater Sangun national football team is the football team which currently represents the Storish autonomous territory of Greater Sangun, and previously represented the Minarborian, Sangunese-South Cibolan, Sangunese-Leichenberger and Sangunese-Treisenberger constituent nations, and independent nation of the same name. It is a member of the CTFA, after originally being affiliated to the WMFA, and is the official successor of both Sangun and Riskai and Sangun, Riskai and the Idunn Isles, and as such retains their records.
History
The team was founded in 2012 after the foundation of Greater Sangun as the successor state to Sangun, Riskai and the Idunn Isles. Under the name of Sangun, Riskai and the Idunn Isles, the team competed in the 2012 FMF World Cup qualification rounds, where they finished bottom of their group with six points. Later in the year, Greater Sangun joined with Treisenberg to form Sangun-Treisenberg, with the team resigning their WMFA membership in favour of that of the CTFA.
In early 2013, following the dissolution of Sangun-Treisenberg, Greater Sangun once again became an independent nation. In the 2013 FMF World Cup qualification rounds, the team finished fourth in their five-team group with six points. During qualifying, Greater Sangun joined with Leichenberg to form Sangun-Leichenberg.
In the following year's qualifiers, the team finished second in their four-team group, above Leichenberg by virtue of goals scored, to advance to the play-off, where they lost 5–2 on aggregate to Birgeshir. The team also reached the 2014 CiboTap Championships, where they lost their semi-final to Zandarijn and finished fourth by virtue of their qualifying group record. Later in the year, Sangun-Leichenberg was succeeded by Sangun and South Cibola.
In the 2015 qualifiers, the team finished third in their five-team group with eleven points.
During the 2016 qualifiers, Sangun and South Cibola was annexed by Minarboria, with Greater Sangun retaining its separate FMF membership. In the qualifying rounds themselves, the team finished second in their five-team group with 16 points to advance to the play-offs, where they beat North Antarctica by the away goals rule after drawing 2–2 on aggregate and qualified for CiboTap 2016. In the finals, the team could only draw one game and failed to score as they finished bottom of their group.
The team finished third in their four-team 2017 FMF World Cup qualification group with eight points. In mid-2017, Greater Sangun was annexed by Stormark.
The team competed in the 2018 CiboTap Championships qualification rounds, where they finished third in their four-team group with nine points.
In the 2019 World Cup qualifiers, the team finished second in their five-team group with 16 points and advanced to the interconfederational play-off to face Freeland, to whom they lost on away goals after a 1–1 aggregate draw.
