The Government Distinguished Service Medal was established by HRM King August Charles II in 2004. The medal is awarded by His Royal Majesty to recognize a Gotzer who conducts himself or herself in a distinguished manner during employment with the Crown Service. An individual's general employment with the Crown Service is recognized by the related Government Service Medal.
