George Owain Merwyn is a Calbain nationalist politician who serves as Governor-General since 1710. A former school teacher, he joined the Nationalist Faction in 1680, and was first elected to the Cynulliad Cenedlaethol in the 1696 elections, when the nationalist wave swept the assembly. Previously, Merwyn served as spokesman for education and home affairs. Merwyn is regarded to belong to the centre-left wing of the faction.
