Biography
Guelph first became familiar with the Royal Kingdom when he negotiated the Treaty of Reichlau on behalf of the Kingdom of Hanover. While the Treaty was never ratified, his interaction with the Royal Kingdom's officials led Guelph to become a citizen in December 2005.
His primary focus was as a Deputy of the Chamber of Deputies where he proposed several bills on a variety of issues, from peerages to the judicial system. His greatest legislative achievement was the authoring and passage of the Constitutional Amendment Act (2005) which enshrined direct democracy in the Chamber of Deputies. He was once nominated for the position of Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies, but declined the nomination in favour of Liam Sinclair.
Guelph resigned his citizenship on January 16, 2006, when he was unsuccessful in his attempt to pass legislation that would allow for Deputies to receive a salary. The legislation did not have the support of the Royal Cabinet Office and the lengthy and at-times passionate debate in the Chamber failed to generate a compromise to the satisfaction of both Guelph and the Royal Cabinet Office.
