François Yohannes is a Taesongean-born former-footballer who last played for Biulya äqi Jedu FC in Craitland, with whom he spent the entirety of his career.

Career

Club

Although born in Taesong, Yohannes began his career aged 21 by signing with Craitish League 1 side Biulya äqi Jedu FC ahead of the club's inaugural season in 2003. After being given the number 12, Yohannes was used primarily as a back-up centre-back behind Will Jonsen and Zyx Isrdlvarien in his first few seasons as the side struggled competitively. Ahead of the 2006 season, Yohannes switched to wear number 19, with new signing Jon-Jan Jónsen taking the 12 jersey, and became a more regular starter. BäJ continued to under-perform up until 2009, where they finished third in the league and won their first King's Cup, as Yohannes played an important part in the team's defence.

BäJ acquired Hurmudan defender Ketil av Silmahamnum in the summer of 2010, and Yohannes returned to being utilised more as a squad player in a rotation system from 2011 onward. Despite losing his starting position, Yohannes' flexibility helped his supporting role at BäJ, and he played a number of matches in each of the subsequent seasons as the club went through its most successful period. A second cup win in 2014 was followed by an unprecedented double the following year as the club won a first league title and the WMFA Champions' League, with Yohannes announcing his retirement in the summer of 2015 at the age of 34 after 13 seasons in Biulya.

International

Born in Asia-Paris, in Taesong, Yohannes was available to play for his homeland's team after the foundation of the FMF in 2006, but never received an international call-up due to the good form of fellow defensive players such as Lee Jung-Hwan and Choi Myung-Ho. Taesong was dissolved in 2008, due to the demise of Riponia, and Yohannes—alongside most other Taesongean players—subsequently gained eligibility to represent the territory of Nova English Korea.

After improving domestic form, Yohannes made his début for Nova English Korea's team in 2010 and became a regular starter in 2011, where his ability to play as a holding midfielder saw him used in that role for EMU 2011, where the team were eliminated in the group stage; a finish they repeated the following year. Yohannes helped the team to third place in the 2012 Territories Cup before being part of the side that finished a surprise fourth in EMU 2013, as he even scored a goal in a 3–1 group win over Høgmårk. NEK and Yohannes played in their first World Cup later that year, but could only finish bottom of their group. Yohannes' international involvement was decreased after 2013, though he gained a place in the squad for EMU 2014, as the team were again eliminated at the first hurdle, and he ended his career in the summer of 2015 after an unsuccessful qualifying campaign.
