It was also created to allow U23 teams to develop and play matches against senior sides however development teams were removed for 2020 edition. Teams in Floria also desired to play matches midweek and so the [[Florian FA]] decided to implement the competition from late 2018 onwards.
However, after the end of the 2020 edition, the competition was scrapped due to lack of interest from fans and clubs alike. However the competition was introduced back for the 2022–23 season.
