Farah Yazghulam

Farah Yazghulam, a Ḡurid Babkhan and wife of Rustam Bukhori Yazghulam.

Farah Yazghulam, first wife of her parternal cousin, Rustam Bukhori Yazghulam the Ostāndār of the Ḡur Republic, whom she married in 1677 AN. The couple have two sons and a daughter, latterly joined by another daughter, an orphan whom they adopted following the revolution in 1688. A devotee of the Zurvanite faith, instrumental in the restoration of the ancestral religion in Ganzak-Gor by returning residents of the city to the Threefold Path of Asha through her instruction, by bestowing bursaries upon mendicant preachers to take up residence in the city to further the study of the good religion, and by endowing the construction of fire temples and towers of silence.

As a dutiful Babkhan, Farah Yazghulam has scrupulously organised her household along the lines prescribed for the Harmonious Society, and made it plain to those wives in her circle that the advancement of their husbands in the service of the Republic can only be assured through their evident and sincere emulation of the righteous practices of the ancestors.

Following the Third Euran War Farah was appointed to the Court of the Shahbanu of the Suren as a lady-in-waiting, a convenient means of keeping her to hand so as to ensure the loyalty of her husband, now tasked with administering Ḡur following its annexation to the Suren Confederacy.
