Eesdehaven, formerly known as Kitchengrad, is a city located on the western shores of the Violette Sea. It is currently part of the Grand Duchy of Lac Glacei and capital of the Purple Isles. In ancient times the city was named Kitchengrad and served as the capital of the Purple Bunny Federation. Since the city's liberation by Lac Glacei, the city has begun to re-assert dominance over the surrounding territory and - through a strong base of operations in the Purple Isles - is slowly restoring the glory of the former federation. Eesdehaven's economy is strongly supported by trade and tourism. exports of amethyst, Purple hares, and dye, have helped to keep local industry busy. Meanwhile, various districts have become distinct tourist destinations. The Kitchen, located downtown in one of the older sections, has become known for the latest-and-greatest restaurants. Tourists can also enjoy the nearby white sands of Purple Beach. For more illicit pleasures, the Red Bunny District has become popular for its brothels; more recently legalized and unionized. Since the late 1690s the city's population has swelled from a low of around twenty-five thousand to over two-hundred thousand.
