Democracy

Democracy is a system of government where all citizens are allowed to vote and participate in the government and law making process. Ideally, democracy is centered around the people's--or at least the majority of the people--right to rule themselves. This is usually implemented in a system of representation, where the people elect officials to make decisions for them. Democracies are also usually very focused on the rights of the individual, though this is not always the case.
