Dagon is the fourth largest city in Asshyria, one of the Realms of The Hexarchy. The city's most commonly practiced religion revolves around the domestic native religions present within the country's interior, the north, and the west (with the notable exception of Karnak, which worships a different pantheon). The center of native worship revolves mainly around the cult of Dagon, purportedly the city's guardian deity and the mythical founder of the city.

It is the most important city in eastern Asshyria, with a population of about 550,000 in 1695 AN. Most of the city's economy now relies on the new Pan-Keltian Highway. This highway was built on existing infrastructure, which saw vast improvements and expansions to the roads that run through the heart of the city. The Highway serves as the only reliable direct method of overland travel by rail (passenger or cargo), and one of few by road, between Asshyria and the rest of the Hexarchy, with the only other land route out of the territory being through the vast Empty Quarter.

The city has a small port on the outskirts, but this mostly serves fishing boats and other vessels that ply the coast. Ferries and passenger ships between Asshyria and New South Caputia commonly use Dagon as a stopping point, as a commercial passenger rail line (part of a related national megaproject) now runs directly between Dagon and Ashtaroth (in the same Realm) as well as between it and Enkidu, Eridu.
