Council of Tassity

The Council of Tassity was the first ecumenical council held among the various Bovinist sects. It was the first formal communication between the Dozan Bovic Church and the Benacian Bovic Church after the Bovic Schism. It was convoked by Pentheros Sergius in 1683 by the Pentheral Bull known as Sto télos ton diavólon. It included representatives from the Dozan Church, the Benacian Church and the Church of Melusine.

Background

Relations between the Bovinist and Vanic religious communities had declined since 1657 when King Noah of Uppland legalized rape within the Natopian demesne under his control. Despite efforts to convince Noah to reverse the decision, Noah persisted to defend his right to rape women on their wedding night (the Storish sin). This led to the Uppheaval and subsequent expulsion of Noah from the Waffel-Paine family, the dismantling of his domains in Natopia, the Natopian Frenzy revoking the Concordat that protected Vanic religious rites within the Bovic Empire, and eventually the ratification of a comprehensive human and sexual rights act in Natopia. Nathan II and his sister Clara Sundara were removed from their fostering in Stormark as well, out of fear for their physical well-being.

The Vanic corruption was believed to be contained until the marriage of Clara to Batavian King Arkadius. Clara was a staunch anti-Vanic, and focused her tenure as Natopian Chancellor around rebuilding and modernizing the former demesnes of Uppland that languished under Storish rule. Arkadius and Clara courted each other while Clara was establishing policies to prevent the further spread of Vanic corruption in Natopia. After their marriage the Batavian king, Arkadius IV inexplicably adopted a revisionist approach to the Auspicious Occasion and became a Froyalanaphile and apologist, concerning many world leaders who had felt that the Auspicious Occasion had dealt with the Storish question once and for all, effectively quarantining Stormark.

Arkadius IV had coerced, or threatened, his wife to become a spokesperson for the Froyalanish genocide despite knowing her public distaste of the Storish ways. Arkadius rebuked Nathan II's request to allow Clara to step away from Froyalanish business. He refused and asserted his ownership over Clara. Nathan II realized that Arkadius had been fully and totally corrupted by the Vanics at that point and divulged his conversations to Clara. Clara immediately filed for divorce and fled to Drak-Modan. The children that continue to appear in public as Arkadius' children are subject to wild speculation, including that they are actors, victims of human trafficking, or demons.

The troubling resurgence of Vanicism in the early 1680s led to closed-door discussions among the leaders of the Bovinist churches about what can be done to contain and eventually eliminate the pro-rape Vanic rite. In 1683, it was mutually agreed by the heads of all three Bovinist sects to hold a council to discuss a unified approach to contain and refute the evil Vanic rites. The Pentheros of the Dozan Church formally convoked the council in 1683 by compelling all Dozan clergy to attend a council in Tassity and extending a formal invitation to Benacian and Melusinian clergy to attend as well. The leaders of the Benacian and Melusinian church issued similar directives to their clergy to attend as well. The Council was limited in scope to address the Vanic threat only nd no attempts at reconciliation between Dozan and Benacian churches would be attempted.

Composition

The Pentheral Bull was issued on 23 Regnuary 1683, and set the council to begin on 1 Sonnuber 1683. In total 73 Bovinist clergy would attend. Forty-five bosarchs, abbots, and religious order masters and the Pentheros attended from the Dozan Bovic Church. Sixteen pastuks and the Otchim attended from the Benacian Church. Ten bishops attended from the Melusinian church. The council was presided over by Pentheros Sergius with Otchim Murat Pivarov serving as scribe. Observers from other religious communities were invited to attend as witnesses.

Notable attendees:

  • Pentheros Sergius Hergones, Presiding Officer, and Head of the Dozan Legation
  • Otchim Murat Pivarov, Scribe of the Council, and Head of the Benacian Legation
  • Bishop John of Judah, Head of the Melusinian Legation
  • Metrobosarch Nathan II, Eparchy of Lindstrom
  • Pentheros-Ekktaomai and Metrobosarch Aldin Ayreon-Kalirion, Eparchy of Smjorkyr
  • Metrobosarch Magnus Sverre Kostad, Eparchy of Elijah's Rest
  • Special Witnesses
    • Clara Sundara as personal witness of Vanic Evil
    • Father Vernon Dreadful, Goetic demon-worshiper and expert witness on demonology

Discussions

Those in attendance debated for months on the scope and wording of a Declaration, its enforcement, and the geopolitical ramifications of it. It was eventually agreed that the declaration would be released as a formal memo and record of the council proceedings, and then each Bovinist church would adopt the text as needed according to the church's government.

Findings

  • The Vanic sexual rites are inherently non-consensual and abhorrent to the good and decent people of Micras.
  • The leadership of the Vanic religion is committed to spreading, normalizing, and promoting the non-consensual elements of the so-called religion.
  • Vanic leaders disguise and mislead their intentions as culture, heritage, and history.
  • Past attempts at requesting the non-consensual elements of Vanic 'worship' to be removed from practices within the jurisdictions of nations have exposed Vanic leaders as being stubborn and steadfast proponents of non-consensual sex for the sake of so-called 'cultural development.'
  • Those that ally, consort, engage, and cavort with any Vanic leaders or nations become "tainted" and corrupted to such a degree that they can no longer be reasoned with.
  • The Vanic Taint, therefore, must be contained by isolation of those already contaminated.
  • An impenetrable wall of decency must be raised between the good and decent people of Micras and the depraved, tainted Vanics.
  • All efforts to rescue marginalized victims of Vanic regimes must be made.
  • The Vanic taint can be removed from a person, community, or nation, by public declarations and denouncements against Vanicism.
  • Nations should enact and enforce laws that take away power from the Vanics: forbid sexual crimes, protect children, and defend all genders from abuse.
  • Laws of nations shall not allow a religious excuse to commit sexual crimes, nor shall they allow higher socio-economic classes to be permitted to commit sexual crimes on less-advantaged or less-privileged classes.
  • Churches, nations, peoples, and communities should publicly identify things as "Vanic" if they are connected to Vanicism including nations, religions, and any that are allied to them, affiliated with them, or support or condone them. To be labeled as "Vanic" shall automatically isolate it from the good and decent people of Micras.

Results

The Pentheros of the Dozan Bovic Church adopted the full findings of the council as a Revelation. The Othcim of the Benacian Bovic Church returned to Drakorda and recommended all Bovic pastuks in Drak-Modan adopt the findings in their herds or else be considered Vanic themselves. The Melusinian bishops returned home to begin debating how to implement the findings. The single demonist, Vernon Dreadful, returned to Goetia where he proposed the Community adopt the findings as a Taboo.

Discussions between Dozan and Benacian Bovics highlighted the lack of extreme dogmatic differences between the groups. The Pentheros and the Otchim agreed to a second council, to be convened in 1865, to discuss each church extending full communion to the other and the need for unity among Bovics. An agenda for the upcoming Council of Anmutstadt was tentatively agreed on.
