Loup, Constantine Lyautey (1613–1712). Frumst Frainan of Benacia Command, Szodan of the Unified Governorates of Benacia and then the Benacian Union. A former Magister of the Imperial Army and one of the few to emerge from the War of Lost Brothers with his reputation enhanced by the capture and occupation, albeit temporary, of Diwangdao (the Regent Isles) in Batavia. His response to the Kalirion Fracture, namely to extricate the armed forces from the tottering structure of the Imperial Republic, prevented the descent of an entire continent into wholesale anarchy albeit at the price of paving the way for usurpers to carve up the empire.

For a man who has come to have a firm grasp upon the destiny of entire nations and to have dictated the fate of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of lives over the course of his career, Constantine Loup has proven to be an intensively private individual who, habitually, kept as low a profile as his increasingly exulted station would permit. At every level, whether the local administration, the Command Executive, or at the Permanent Commission in Lindstrom, Loup has shown himself to be in favour of collective decision making, albeit often impatient of over-reliance upon the processes and procedures favoured by some. Whilst capable of cruelty, a trait that no-one endeavouring to hold Benacia together can entirely avoid, Loup has so-far failed to demonstrate the sadistic and narcissistic tendencies which bedevilled so many of his predecessors and contemporaries.

Long suspected of being a "confirmed bachelor", Loup had in fact married the daughter of his housekeeper in a private ceremony conducted in 1661. His daughter, and thus far his only child, Guendolen, was duly born the following year.

Circumstances, namely the early part he had played in tolerating and condoning the emergence of what would become the Neo-Vanic State, obliged Constantine Loup consider his career to have come to an end after the Second Amokolian War and, accordingly, to take the opportunity to retire from public life in late 1678. His last act as a public figure was to give away his only daughter in matrimony to Jeremiah Avon-El, the newly ascendant Commander-in-Chief, at the dual wedding and investiture ceremony held for the latter in Merensk on 17.XV.1678. In recognition of his past services and instrumental part in holding together the Imperial Forces during the Kalirion Fracture Loup was permitted to depart from Merensk, alive and bodily intact. In lieu of a pension he received the title of Bailiff and Alderman in the Bailiwick of Lapano on the island of Florencia where he had hoped he would subsequently spend his remaining days accompanied by his wife and a succession of faithful Benacian Sablehounds. The rising of the United Isles would however see him expelled from Lapano, in spite of playing a small role in stiffening the resolve of the Black Legions garrison there to make a determined stand against the rebel forces. He was however evacuated along with the forces trapped in the Lapano pocket at the end of fighting there. At the subsequent restoration of UGB authority over the southern isles, Constantine elected not to resume his sinecure on Florencia, but instead elected to live in Merensk as a private citizen with a comparatively modest property and a fruit orchard in the Plantations district, purchased for him by well-wishers in the Honourable Company.

Brought out of retirement, much against his will, to serve as Archon of the N&H National Sector Party in the UGB on 13.I.1694 AN. Recalled to the office of Szodan to head the civilian (N&H) administration following of the UGB Second Elwynnese Civil War, as such he assumed leadership of the High Presidium of the Benacian Union from its formation until his final retirement in 1709 AN. He was invested as a Grand Knight Commander of the Order of the Great Kingdom of Constancia in the 1704 Extraordinary Investiture of the Imperial State of Constancia.

A bulletin released by the High Presidium stated that Constantine Loup had passed peacefully on the night of 22.V.1712 AN. The report did not elaborate on the circumstances of his passing, merely that he had been travelling abroad in a private capacity and had spent his last day alive in the port of Aqaba. Reports in the so-called chicha press of Nouvelle Alexandrie carried speculation that Loup had been in Aqaba for a course of cellular rejuvenation therapy at a specialist clinical-resort in the city during the preceding week.
