The Coldwater Company is a conglomerate holding company established in Cimmeria, Elwynn in 1677 by Viktor Lewis. The Company had acquired the Elwynnese assets of the Iron Company following the suppression of Verionist organisations and entities in the territory of Elwynn and its Raspur Pact allies. How these assets came to be sold to an obvious scion of a prominent Verionist family was not immediately apparent and gave rise, in due course, to a series of judicial purges that dismantled the government of Conducator Meqael Mizarierion in the Congressional Counties of Elwynn as of the year 1680.
The Coldwater Company was, at that time, stated by its promotional materials to be one of the largest employers in the Congressional Counties. Between 1677 and 1680, the Company operated merchant shipping routes to various nations on Micras from logistical hubs established in cities of Fieldburg and Asantelian. The company's overt affiliation with Verionism and seeming interest in establishing a private military enterprise provoked a harsh response from the Court of the Prince and saw such assets as remained within the jurisdiction of the Elwynnese Republic once again forcibly appropriated and taken into public ownership as a precursor to winding down.
Subsequently, the Coldwater Company moved to Calbion where it set up headquarters. During the Second Elwynnese Civil War, the Company returned to Elwynn and established a secondary headquarters in the Hyperborean city of Kalen.
