The coat of arms of Craitland is the heraldic symbol of the Kingdom of Craitland, used to represent the monarch, government and people of the nation. The arms themselves were initially designed by Craitman in rudimentary fashion shortly after the nation's foundation in late 2002 and were used as a national emblem until an indeterminate date in 2007, upon their granting and blazoning by the micronational College of Arms' herald Regicollis.

Design

The crest of the arms entails a plain white shield upon which a Pelle rose, the Craitish national flower, is positioned. In traditional heraldic terms, the formation of this variegated flower is known as a "Tudor rose", the term used in the arms' original blazon, though subsequent notice from the College of Arms has recognised the term "Pelle rose" as an acceptable micronational variant.[2] The shield is supported by a wreath of laurel which holds the escutcheons of both the influential Pellegrino and Chentzansio families, whose coats of arms were granted by the College of Arms around the same time. The wreath is shown tied together at the base of the arms with a banner that reads in Craitish "Vycasio yhn Honór"—"Bravery in Honour"; the Craitish national motto—while above the shield sits the crown of the monarch with the tip of the royal sceptre protruding behind it.

The design varies little from the original arms; the only notable difference being that the nation's name in Craitish ("Cräiteland") initially adorned the top of the crest above the Pelle rose.

Symbolism

The white of the shield indicates peacefulness; a key principle in the nation's establishment as well as one of its national colours. The laurel wreath supporting the arms indicates the triumph found in the nation's establishment through the coming together of the founding Pellegrino and Chentzansio families, whose shields are located to the left and right of the crest, respectively. Although the inclusion of the royal sceptre behind the crown was blazoned as a processional cross by the College of Arms, it has no symbolic link to Christianity.

Chentzansio family arms:
Or four Bends Gules. From an armet mantled Gules countered Or between two probiscides gule a Sceptre Or topped by three Peacock Feathers Proper.
Pellegrino family arms:
Parted per Bend sinister Argent and Azure two Caltraps Countercharged. From an armet mantled Azure countered Argent three Ostrich Feathers Azure, Argent and Azure.
The Incontinentian seal, inspired heavily by the Craitish arms.

Influence

The Craitish coat of arms heavily influenced the design of the state seal of the defunct autonomous territory of Incontinentia. Though officially not a coat of arms having not been granted by the College of Arms, Incontinentia's seal used the Craitish arms but replaced the primary white of the crest with a light blue, with the Pelle rose smaller in size and surrounded by a white circle. Above the rose sat the words "Инцоняитанцха" ("Incontinentia" in Incontinentian) and "domiņon" (Craitish for "dominion"). The banner below the crest was also modified to read "Мардлик в Цзести", the Incontinentian translation of the Craitish national motto.
