During his travels in Sanilla Mr. Trustworthy documented customs, religious activities and the various languages spoken in the nation, amongst other things. Therefore, when the civil war broke out, it was only natural that he would write down those events as well. His description of the civil war was published on 5.XIV.1602 AN.

The Civil War

The political system of the federal government has produced a largely dysfunctional administration. The Cisamarrese and East Sanillan delegations often argue openly about how to run the country, while the Passikaan delegation is largely absent. This has produced an administration that is largely corrupt and with sketchy guidance from the political elite. This coupled with ethnic tensions both within the provinces and between them, has lead to movements demanding greater autonomy or even sovereignty for different areas and groups. General ineffectiveness in the law enforcement agencies in Highpass has left free space for various terrorist groups fighting for separation from Sanilla. A string of bombings in Sho'ikali'i, Rondra and Siccre inflamed the situation further. Underfunded and incompetent federal law enforcement agencies couldn't effectively combat this growing threat. This lead to the formation of militias and various provincial agencies. The militias grew unchecked and came into conflict with federal and provincial law enforcement. This situation descended into general chaos after the assassination of several leading Trinity Council members. A Sanillan fundamentalist group claimed responsibility for the act. Civil war followed with federal and provincial law enforcement forces on one side, and militias and various armed groups on the other side. The already dysfunctional Passikaan provincial government declared independence from Sanilla, after which it collapsed. It now controls little outside the capital Rondra. The East Sanillan government saw a sizeable part of its population emigrate back to Shireroth, with large numbers also going to places like Aryasht, Ashkenatza, Gaston and Natopia. The remaining population could only maintain control over Sho'ikali'i district. A large part of the Cisamarrese and some Amarri emigrated to Corum, including a large part of the surviving leadership of the country. There it has begun to establish a successor state to Sanilla, based on confederation, regionalism and consensus government.
