Benjamin Meir was a Haifo-Natopian noble, politician, lawyer. Meir was a prominent political figure in the Free State of Haifa and later in the Natopia. He served two non-consecutive terms as Chancellor of Natopia.

Biography

Early life

Meir was born in Abeis, Haifa on 20.XV.1573 AN to Joseph Meir and Imelda Meir. His parents were actively involved in the political movement behind the founding of Haifa and his father served as the first City Police Commissioner of Abeis when the city was founded. The Meir family made a fortune in real estate development, led by Benjamin's mother.

Haifan politician and statesman

After graduating from the University of Abeis with a juris doctorate, Meir leveraged his family's connections to start a political career in Haifa. He served as Mayor of Abeis for one term before becoming Prime Minister of Haifa. Under his leadership, Haifa became more prosperous and he led the Haifan Democratic Party to victory several times in elections.

However, towards the end of his last term, a dispute with other politicians over the return to Natopia of Port St. Andre led to his resignation as Prime Minister. The succeeding Prime Minister targeted Meir personally and he faced political persecution, leading him to seek asylum in Lindstrom. On 1.13.1617 AN, Meir arrived in Natopia after a self-imposed exile from Haifa.

Natopian statesman and noble

Soon after his arrival in Natopia, Meir was appointed Marshal of Thalassa, which was the office responsible for governing the demesne on behalf of the Emperor. In this role, Meir was responsible for overseeing the administration of the region and maintaining law and order. He quickly made a name for himself as a competent and efficient leader, and was soon appointed to other high-level positions within the Natopian government.

In 1639, Meir was appointed Director-General of the Imperial Natopian Constabulary, a position he held for several years.
