Arkadius IV, full name: Arkadius Frederik Gustavus des Vinandy (1642 AN), also know as Arkadius Gregtshaemere, is King of Batavia since 1669 AN, King of Amokolia since 1672, Kaiser of Francia since 1678 AN, King of Arcadia since 1680 AN and Head of the Franco-Batavian Empire since 1684 AN. He returned to Batavia in 1666 AN and played the organ of the Cathedral of 's Koningenwaarde. Soon he re-established the Conservative Monarchist Party (which had dominated politics during most of the Second Kingdom) and entered the political arena. After the elections, he obtained an absolute majority in the House of Commons. In cooperation with the Ultraroyalists and decisive action, he succeeded in bringing about major reforms. This led to his accession to the throne in 1669 AN.

Arkadius is a descendant from the House of Vinandy, who already provided three kings and a queen for the Batavian throne.

Early life

Arkadius was born in the Schaarlecht City Hospital, in Schaarlecht, capital of the Beneluccas, which at the time was part of Flanders. The room of the hospital where he was born was temporarily declared extraterritorial, giving him the Batavian nationality. His fate to become king of Batavia was thus already determined. Despite the fact that at the time of his birth there was no view of a monarchy, 21 salute shots were fired.

His names are:

Arkadius lived in his youth on Estate Chogogo, on the island of Erasmus of the Beneluccas, near Schaarlecht. In that place he went to school. The organ of the estate chapel Arkadius learned to play the organ.

He studied political science and international law at the University of Goldshire in Shireroth. He then completed military service with the Royal Arcadian Navy, where he was promoted to lieutenant at sea. After his military service he still obtained his pilot's license.

King of Batavia

The Prime Minister's ascension to the Batavian Crown was one of the most awaited events in Benacia of the 17th century. The coronation ceremony was watched by millions all over the globe, while hotels had been sold out months before. It was also the first instance of a sitting Prime Minister being crowned King. Upon his Coronation, Arkadius resigned from his political positions, and Joachim Mackay became Prime Minister.

After his marriage to Clara Sundara Waffel-Paine, he resides in the Blanckenhof Palace, to the north-west of 's Koningenwaarde. But since the divorce he lives with his children in Jachtslot Wildenstein in Vinandy.

Coronation speech

Throne speech (1669 AN)

“Highly honoured Batavians and guests,

The very important honour and task that you have assigned to us, makes us deeply moved. It is still less than 10 Norton years ago that our nation was only a memory. Until the late Gustaaf Vermeylen jr., who together with other Batavians, brought about the revival of this nation.

The road to this day has not been a smooth flat road, but one of highs and lows. It threatened to happen that our nation would become a republic and it threatened to happen that a non-Batavian king would sit on this throne. Those threats have not failed our nation in its revival, but have prepared the way to the extent we have now come.

To the Emperor of Shireroth we express our great gratitude in particular because of the selfless donation of territory to our nation. More than what was once Batavian land was given to us. To this end we have named a city after His Majesty the Emperor of Shireroth: Vidarstadt.

We also express our gratitude to the Emperor of Jingdao that our capital in particular may again be under our sovereign flag. To commemorate this permanently, we ordain the construction of a monument in honour of our benefactors.

Our thanks also go to those who have conducted the negotiations on behalf of our nation. His excellency August Baerdemans and his excellency Jacobo Castrigo Alvaréz. To them we grant the honorary title "Minister of State" for their important services to our nation.

We have just signed the new Constitution for the Kingdom of Batavia. The third constitution in a short time and the twelfth constitution since the creation of the Free Batavian States. Yet the hope and expectation is that this constitution may serve our nation for a long time as the foundation of our institutions.

This Constitution contains provisions that assign exceptional powers to us for at least the next period. We thank the House of Commons for the trust in its award of these exceptional powers. But, with these exceptional powers, we will not want to lose momentum if it is time for elections before the set period. We have the deep desire to see the democratic principle of our nation active and working again.

The establishment of the Batavian Confederation with Arcadia, Beneluccas and Kasterburg is more than an honourable restoration of the glorious Batavia of old.

More than our hope was when the first steps towards the restoration of Batavia were taken, is now the hope for a glorious future of our nation, of the restored Batavia. More than ever we can say: Batavia will continue to exist until the end of the world!"

Throne speeches at the opening of parliament

The speech to the throne at the opening of parliament is drawn up with the approval and under the responsibility of the current government. The speech therefore does not reflect the king's own opinion, but the government's position.

Throne speech (1675 AN)

“Members of the Batavian Parliament,

In times of great unrest on our continent, we are grateful for the peace in our country. The major geopolitical changes on our eastern border mean that the government is pursuing a course-oriented policy. The neutrality of our country is at stake if we do not remain vigilant about that principle. This requires iron nerves and a sober look.

When charting the history of our territory in the period that there was no free and independent Batavia, a power struggle reveals itself. That struggle is still waged and threatens political relations. Here one can think of the conflict between the then Imperial government of Shireroth with the Froyalaners. In that conflict, the Kingdom of Batavia declares itself neutral.

Any claim to the Lion Throne other than that granted by our constitution is unlawful. This makes the claim of the High King of Stormark not legitimate. We call on the Storish government to give up any claim to the Lion Throne. And to acknowledge that Batavian titles can only be awarded by Batavian legislation.

Our country has been mapped and that detailed map is an invitation to further cultural development. Unfortunately, cultural development has lagged somewhat behind in the last period. While the Batavian cultural developments have traditionally never been in honor of one person, today too everything is focused on a national approach.

Present-day Batavia is a unique mix of forum-based interaction and wiki-based cultural development. The glories make local development more important than global development of a larger area. That makes cultural development a chance for greater diversity and diversity.

The signals are green, the opportunities are present, the options are countless. The future shines now that the foundations of our state are founded. Batavia will exist until the end of the world!"

Speech in the Lagerhuis

The speech that the king gave in the Lagerhuis to the Batavians for the start of a new Golden Age for the country.

Speech (1676 AN)

“My dear Batavian,

The sudden loss of our Prime Minister, mr. Joachim Cornelis Theodorus Frederik Jacobus Mackay, made us decide to set the state of emergency. The Lagerhuis was already in session longer than its actual term of office and the government was paralyzed with the loss of our prime minister. The order in our kingdom must be maintained, the necessary measures must be taken. These are the motives for setting the state of emergency.

However, the state of emergency is not intended to apply indefinitely. Certainly with a view to history. Because it is precisely in history that a situation like this has been catastrophic for Batavia. The Edelenregering and the Third Kingdom are examples from our own history, showing that a state of emergency or transition is not successful. Only in both cases did more play a role than just the situation. There was hostility and struggle, no common goal, no cooperation. The Second Kingdom was so successful through cooperation.

That is why I want to call for cooperation. In this Assembly of the Batavians I invite all Batavians to think along with us about the future of our beautiful Batavia. Working together for a new Golden Age for our country.

Animo for this project is the heart of the matter. Flanders collapsed when the enthusiasm for that country disappeared. Batavia fell when enthusiasm disappeared, foreign aspirations were considered more important and conflicting interests began to play a part. A revival of Batavia and working towards a new Golden Age require commitment, loyalty and cooperation. If those three things are not there, then it is better not to participate. Our country has nothing to do with a policy of muddling through, but requires genuine commitment.

The Lagerhuis elections and thus the formation of governments have traditionally been the focal point of Batavian politics. But due to foreign developments, this way of organizing is seen as old-fashioned. The question is whether old-fashioned than necessarily the system should change. Old-fashioned can still function well, even with some adjustments. Precisely because in the past this system was the backbone of the successful Second Kingdom, rejection of this system should not be taken lightly.

The preservation of cultural heritage and the development of our country must go hand in hand. The much work from the past cannot and should not be lost, such as that the old forum has been lost. The temporary or temporary recovery of the Batawiki is an important means to work together on the preservation and development of cultural articles. But also good consultations about the narrative of the historical description and the still undocumented history of in particular the period between the fall and the revival of Batavia.

The Batavian revival has proved successful. Batavia is on the map again. Only recently, Batavia has been little active. The potential and opportunities for this country are untold. The time for further action has arrived. Who is with me ?!"

Receiving State Visits

  • Craitland In 1672 AN Arkadius and his wife received the king of Craitland for a state visit. At the time of the Second Kingdom of Batavia, Craitland and Batavia already had diplomatic relations. A new treaty of friendship and cooperation was signed during the state visit. His Majesty, Craitman H. Pellegrino, received a key for his personal mug in the Hofbierhuis Vinandy.

Making State Visits

  • Natopia In 1673 AN Arkadius and his wife were received by the emperor of Natopia for a state visit. During this state visit, the treaty between Batavia and Natopia was signed and Arkadius delivered a speech in the Frenzy (Natopian parliament).

Grand Duke of Helderbourgh

On 6 Bloeimaand 1672 AN Arkadius was appointed Grand Duke of Helderbourgh.

Emperor of Francia

On 12 Bloeimaand 1672 AN Arkadius was crowned King of Amokolia, there he is referred to as Arkadius I of Amokolia. On 18 Nebelmond 1678 AN the Kingdom of Amokolia transfered to the Frankish Empire, making Arkadius Arkadius I of Francia.

Speech at the unveiling of the Valfreyja monument (1674 AN)

“We are gathered here today to recognize a black page in our history and the history of our continent. Whatever the history, the background, the exclusion and extermination of a population must always be rejected. Natural rights can never be called into question.

Different population groups, different customs and traditions illustrate cultural diversity. That diversity must be nurtured, not crushed by violence and oppression. All countries on Micras are called upon to recognize the Froyalan Genocide.

The perpetrators of the Froyalan Genocide who are still alive must justify themselves in court. For this purpose, the Froyalan Tribunal will be established and offenders will be traced. No one goes unpunished.

The monument we unveil today is the image of the deep cracks in Freya. She had to watch how her people were beaten, wiped out. The freedom has been taken away, the freedom to be who you are."

King of Arcadia

On 16.VIII.1680 AN Arkadius became king of Arcadia and Prince of the Calbain after the death of Gustavus des Vinandy. Margaery des Vinandy, Princess of the Beneluccas, became the regent of Arcadia.
