Stadium and traditions

The Aren Whales play in a 25,000 occupancy located on pilings suspended over the ocean with the south end unobstructed providing a clear line of sight into the ocean mist. During storm system games frequently have to be moved or rescheduled do to high waves that crash up onto the pitch itself causing for unsafe playing conditions. The Aren Whales have a dedicated fan base known as the Aren Ultras who frequently drown out larger stadiums with their creative and sometimes vulgar chants and songs. 2 hours before each game the fans light a massive bonfire outside of the stadium on its north end, because the stadium has unobstructed lines of sight on the north and south ends the fire is visible within the stadium. The bonfire includes the burning of an effigy of the mascot of whatever team they are playing that game day. In 2002 a comprehensive song book was published of all 60 songs often sung during the course of a game by the fans, this is the only team that has a majority of fans who sing constantly without interruption from beginning to end during a game regardless of the action or outcomes on the field even if a game ends the fans continue until the songs are complete.
