Antakşehir was the biggest city and capital of Antakia. In 1678, the city is leaved from Maraş and capital is moved to Antakşehir. The Taş River passes through the middle of the city. It was a transportation hub that provided bus transportation to 68 cities and plane transportation to 28 cities.
The city was annihilated by a 50-megaton nuclear bomb in 1707.
