Anno Cretania

From MicrasWiki
Jump to navigationJump to search
Not to be confused with the Craitish calendar.

The term Anno Cretania (lit. "in the year of Craitland"), is used to number years under the Craitish dating system.

The Latin phrase is usually abbreviated to AC, and is placed after the year number; e.g. "27 AC".

Calculation

The Craitish dating system begins with the year 1 AC, begun from 12 December 2002; the date of Craitland's foundation. For every three Gregorian months, regardless of total days, one AC year passes, meaning a total of four AC years for each Gregorian year.

AC years can also be calculated for dates prior to the foundation of Craitland. Every three-month interval in reverse chronological order from 11 December 2002 increases by one year with the abbreviation BC ("before Craitland").

Usage

The primary usage for AC years is internally in Craitland, where the parliamentary elections held on 1 September each Gregorian year are therefore held on a quadrennial basis in AC. AC dates are also used when noting important dates in Craitland's history.

There is currently no known usage of AC outside of Craitland.
