In red, the location of the Afrikaanian Woodlands.

Located along the border between the Kingdom of New Zimia and the Realm of Bayen, the Afrikaanian Woodlands is one of Corum's several lesser wilderness areas. Perhaps the most feared and respected stretch of wilderness in northern Corum, the Afrikaanian Woodlands are known to conceal the Valley of Bijeko, a location which is believed to be the home of Caztáigs Danaß, the centuries-old spirit of the fierce king of the Bijeko-Lisea-Nas. Legend holds that prior to its death, Danaß was the favorite hunting companion of the Host Spirit, who was so fond of the creature that after it was killed one day by a group of poachers, the Spirit raised its soul from the dead so that they could hunt together for eternity. According to tradition, Danaß is known to this day to hunt and kill wanderers who do not seek the protection of the Host Spirit prior to entering the Afrikaanian Woodlands. Travelers who manage to avoid being hunted may yet encounter the spirit, sometimes wandering at the side of the Host Spirit, sometimes at the side of the ghost of King Lucien IV, who was known to spend large amounts of time in the Woodlands.

Geography

Pictured: The Afrikaanian Woodlands are a region steeped in superstition and mystery. Some claim that the region is the home of the Pallisican Host Spirit itself.

The Afrikaanian Woodlands lie between the Pallisican cities of Afrikaania, Port Brent, and Fort Pallisico. The forest lies almost entirely within the borders of the Realm of Passio-Corum.

Biodiversity

One of the most biologically diverse regions in Corum, the Afrikaanian Woodlands is home to at least eighteen noteworthy species, including, but not limited to the following.
