The 1710 Hurmu by-elections occurred on 5.II.1710 (in Samhold and Al-Khadra, to give these previously unrepresented districts representation in the Assembly of Representatives, and on 10.IV.1710 in Transprinitica for an increased and renewed Transprinitican representation in the Assembly of Representatives, after it had transpired that the census authorities in Transprinitica in actuality had not conducted a census but rather made population approximations that were sent into the Central Government's Statistics department.

On 1.I.1710, the Assembly was reduced with 1 representative (the one for the Warring Islands, as these islands had now been ceded to the Benacian Union). After a census was held of the newly annexed territories (Al-Khadra in 1708; Samhold in 1710), the Electoral Commission determined that the Assembly would be temporarily (for the duration of its session; i.e. until the next general election) be expanded by 31 new seats, 1 for Samhold and 30 for the Al-Khadra district. This would give each voter an equal representation to voters in other parts of Hurmu.

Transprinitica was awarded 8 seats instead of its previous 2. After Transprinitica's election, the Assembly was expanded even more, to 135 seats.

Samhold Island

In Samhold Island, there was a tight race between Edasi Hurmu and the Coalition for Democratic Humanism. In the end, only 159 votes separated the two parties from another, with Edasi Hurmu taking Samhold's only seat. This came as a surprise to the Coalition for Democratic Humanism, which generally does better in insular areas of Hurmu, and with a big HPC voter base. Journalists theorized that the so-called Mondo Plan for repatriation of patriots from the Warring Islands saw a greater than expected favour for Edasi (Edasi and Mondo are allied in their support behind the United Ayreonist–Traditionalist List in the Senate of the Lakes.
