The 1682 Invasion of Sankt Ludwigshafen was a one-week military operation conducted by the Alriggian Republic against the Republic of Sankt Ludwigshafen. It resulted in the annexation of Sankt Ludwigdshafen by Alrig. In early 1682 AN the Alexandrian flu epidemic of 1682 spread from Sankt Ludwigshafen to Alrig, following the refusal of Sankt Ludwigshafen's government to isolate those who suffered from the disease. After the epidemic was brought under control, Alrig launched a punitive expedition. Following an ultimatum, demanding an unconditional surrender, the militias from the various Alriggian circles landed south of the city of Sankt Ludwigshafen, 20 kilorics north of the Craitlandish border. From there they bombarded the city with mortar shells. The Dragonerkorps Ludwigshafen and the Bezirkbürgerwehr Ludwigshafen did not possess the same artillery as the Alriggians and were forced to launch a counter-offensive. They were led into a minefield and faced significant losses before retreating back into the city. Alrig reiterated its demand for an unconditional surrender and this time Sankt Ludwigshafen complied.
