The 1676 elections in Elwynn for Prince will take place on 16.III.1676. If no candidate receives a nationwide majority in that election, a second round was held on 8.IV.1676. In the end, Frederik Haabye Truls (N&H) narrowly beat Meqael Mizarielion (AIP) for the principate, 50.69% vs 49.31% of all votes cast in the second round.

The elections are held prior to schedule due to the removal of Prince Ander Avon-El from office after the Elwynnese Congress and the Majles of Alalehzamin both passed acts of impeachment against him. Ander Avon-El, who won the 1672 princely election, did not be stand for reelection.

As of yet, no candidates have been announced.

Candidates

  • Jorgen Basker-Daal, leader of the Amokolian People's Party, from Anun. Tried to stand as a pan-Amokolian candidate but failed to receive support from other Amokolian parties. Had a reputation as a negotiator and bridge builder. Upholds the unity of the Elwynnese Republic, wishes for integration of West Amokolia into the Elwynnese Republic and, only then, the establishment of an Amokolian autonomous republic.
  • Frederik Haabye Truls, congressional leader of the Nationalist and Humanist Party, Norseman originally from Agnesia. That the N&H did not select a Babkhi or Alalehzamini candidate surprised many in the country. Popular in northern Elwynn for his statesmanship during the fall of the Verionist-led government and his short conducatorship. Has not had much of a reputation in the South before the election campaign.
  • Hubertus van Sleenck, leader of the Conservative Historical Party, a party heavily associated with West Amokolia. Ranch owner in western Vattnaland. Sports an impressive moustache. Calls for a cession of East Amokolia into West, an establishment of a new Benacian empire. Responsible for several gaffes during the campaign, considered to be a comic addition to the campaign. Has a cult following of hipsters around the Republic.
