Üterlëk (or Uterleek in English) is the largest city, and de facto capital of mainland Nordia. The city serves not only as the primary industrial and trade hub of the nation, but also as the primary residence of the King of Nordia. Due to these facts, Üterlëk is often mistaken as the capital of the kingdom. However, in reality Üterlëk serves only as Nordia's public front with its actual capital Küfara being (for the most part) only accessible to ethnic Nord people.

History

The city of Üterlëk has a history far preceding the formation of Nordia.

Pre-Nordia

Prior to the Nord trek into the mainland, the land now known as Üterlëk was made up of vast forests with small dotting rivers and lakes. As well as this, the area had large reserves of natural recourses such as stone, timber, oil and uranium.

Modern history

Following initial settlement following the Nords' trek to the mainland, the city slowly began to sprawl out, first with the building of a small village, next a cathedral and finally with small business complexes being established. Following the discovery of deposits of stone and uranium, large corporations such as NordCorp and others, began to sink millions of Dorleps worth of money into Üterlëk's economy.

Eventually, as the Nords spread further inland, and the need for raw materials increased, large mines and quarries were established among the outskirts of the city, this combined with lumber production became the city's main source of income and of employment.

However, in more recent times, following the construction of a new castle for the Nord King, trade and international commerce has grown to be a large percent of the city's economy as buildings slowly transitioned away from more classical Nord architecture and towards more modern cityscapes with skyscrapers dotting the skyline.

Landmarks

Visitors to the city are welcomed to enjoy the rich cultural and architectural diversity of Üterlëk. While most of the city's modern structures have been recently built, the ancient nature of Üterlëk means that regardless of one's individual tastes, there is something there for everyone.
