Current state of the Tionól Blepe.

The Tionól Blepe is the parliament of Blepia. It is responsible for the creation of laws and is the highest legal authority of the nation. It was created in July 2017 by the Provisional Blepian Government in order to start a democratic government for Blepia. There are 100 seats in the Tionól, 10 of which are elected by each first-level council of Blepia.

History

The Tionól Blepe was the first unicameral parliament in the history of Blepia. Before the Unification of Blepia, most states in the region were generally authoritarian and undemocratic, and most democracies still had powerful monarchs and an upper house in their parliament. During the creation of the unified state of Blepia, a form of government could not be agreed on between the various entities uniting to form it, so it was agreed that it would be put to a referendum. Cellular democracy won out, and the Tionól Blepe was established.

February 2018 events

The perpetrators of the Blepian Emergency were the Warriors of Toxoplasmosis. Toxoplasmosism is a Blepian religion based off worship of cats. The third largest party in the Assembly, the Toxoplasmosist Democratic Union, a Toxoplasmosist theocratic authoritarian party, were heavily implicated in these events and as a result were banned entirely. Critics of the government call this a violation of the democratic rights of members of the TDU while voters for and supporters of the TDU say that the only people responsible for the Blepian Emergency were the Warriors of Toxoplasmosis and deny any involvement in the events. Regardless, all MAs (Members of the Assembly) in the Toxoplasmosist Democratic Union are currently in jail and the situation is being investigated more thoroughly, as the leader of the party Daghain Nic Muircheartaigh has fled the country.
