Aereolineas Martinas

The airline was established on May 23, 1955 and started operations on August 4th of that same year. It was founded as Lineas Aereas de la Republica. In May 1978, Lineas Aereas de la Republica absorbed Aguila Martina and became Aereolineas Martinas. It acquired Collazo Airlines from Aguila Martina and subsidiary Martino Management Inc. absorbingits operations. Following the merger with Aviones Alexandria in 1999 additional domestic and international services were taken over by Aereolineas Martinas. Following discrimination lawsuits the company's stock was reduced significantly. In 2000, Martino Automobile Company purchased Aereolineas Martinas and its subsidiaries. Aereolineas Martinas is owned by Martino Automobile Company (76.8%), Martino Management Ltd. (22.2%) and has 2,040 employees (in March 2007).
