The Crown Regent of Bellissimomare is an annually elected position that serves in a mayoral capacity within the capital city of Bellissimomare in the country of Sayaffallah. The position is currently held by Ibrahim Bin Al Sawafi who was elected in December 2016

Palace of the Crown Regent of Bellissimomare located outside the old city formerly served as a fortress during the Islamic years.


History

The position of Crown Regent replaced the prior position of Capital Vizier in 1902 following the Revolution of 1900 which brought about the centuries old run of Islamic rule in Sayaffallah. The position of Crown Regent was created by an Act of Parliament and was signed by the Monarch/Sultan almost immediately after it was passed making it effective very quickly. The first Crown Regent of Bellissimomare was Sir James Hubert a protestant preacher from the old city part of the capital who ran on a platform of restoring trust in government.


Powers & Duties

The powers and duties of the Crown Regent are as follows

  • Opening of the Capital Council (Advisory body)
  • Petition the Monarch for Emergency Relief after an emergency or disaster
  • Negotiate with other cities for trade projects
  • Set and establish taxation rates and easement of taxes for individuals and corporations
  • Appoint the members of the Capital Council
  • Establish the airport taxation rate
  • Host the Annual Crown Regent Gala (raises funds for the city and its most pressing projects)
  • Coordinate, Schedule and Oversee construction and infrastructure improvements
  • Respond directly to district complaints
  • Oversee management of each capital district
