We Are All Sofia
"We Are All Sofia" became a rallying cry and solidarity slogan during the New Alexandrian university protests of 1750 following the widely publicized lassoing and dragging of student protester Sofia Reyes by a mounted Federal Gendarmerie officer during Operation Faun on 10.VII.1750 AN.[1] The phrase first appeared on signs held by vigil participants outside Parap General Hospital where Reyes was hospitalized with broken ribs, a concussion, and extensive lacerations. Within days, the slogan spread across university campuses, appearing in chalk writings, graffiti, social media posts, and protest banners as students expressed identification with Reyes's experience of state violence. By late VII.1750 AN, "We Are All Sofia" had been adopted by student organizations and human rights groups across Nouvelle Alexandrie as a symbol of resistance to authoritarian crackdown on academic freedom, though its usage declined as protest participation dropped due to fears of government retaliation.
