Nazarene Uprising of 1749
After the Nazarene Uprising of 1748 had been put down, Princess Emilia Antoinette of the Confoederatio Aemilia hoped that peace would return to the nation. She was sorely mistaken, the threat of flood when the Eternal Mistress decided to visit her descendant Herodias Blutwasser, and then the slaughter of the rebels by the horny demons had frightened a lot of people and opened people's eyes to the role of the princess. Nazarene preachers who warned for an impending day of judgement found more willing ears than ever before and for the first time since the inception of the nation, the perceived legitimacy of the princess crumbled. Used to getting her way because of her charisma, princess Emilia Antoinette was not sure how to respond to the unrest. At first she thought of stepping down, but the religious preachers were extremists who wanted to bring the nation back to the perceived patriarchal glory time of the 1710's when woman were supposed to be obedient to their husbands and sexual minorities had no way of being their true selves in public. That was not something the princess would want to take hold of the nation, not now it had been united only years ago, a golden age should start instead.
The people were afraid of the supernatural, because they were unaccustomed to it, she thought. So from now on, the supernatural should leave the shadows and take up space in public life. She anticipated a backlash, but this was a conflict she needed to face now.
