The Iselande National Soccer League (Iselandic Soccer) is the sole association football league in Iselande and Salem, constituent countries of the United Kingdom of Meckelnburgh. The league was organized in 2022 as a successor to Jääkieli football following the rebuilding of the country after The Troubles. It is organized by the East Meckelnburgh Soccer Association. The league hosts 21 clubs across the two levels of men's and single division of women's teams.
Organization
Iselandic soccer is organized in three divisions: 1. Division and 2. Division, and the women's league, each with eight teams. The men's league is made up of 13 clubs. In addition, Iselande's national U-21 football team is a permanent participant in 1. Division play, and the national women's football team is a permanent participant in 2. Division. The Salem national football team also plays the same, as a standard club.
Each season runs from September through May. Teams traditionally play a 28-game season, in a four-round round-robin tournament. The two losing clubs in 1. Division and the two winning clubs in 2. Division are automatically promoted and relegated, respectively. The second place losers and winners play one post-season game, with the winning club continuing to 1. Division.
Tournaments
Two tournaments are played around the Iselandic Soccer season. The Grand Ducal Cup happens throughout the season and pits all men's league teams against each other in a single-elimination knockout tournament. As the first match before the next season, the champion of 1. Division and the winner of the Grand Ducal Cup play for the Iselandic Supercup in a final match.
