The Constitution of the Third Republic of Sankt Ludwigshafen was adopted in VI.1696. Its adoption marked the end of a period of anarchy that started with the demise of the Second Republic of Sankt Ludwigshafen in XV.1693 during the Ludwigshafener Civil War. The constitution is based on the understanding of its authors, notably Adam Rettich and Thomas de Louisville of the teachings of the Ludwiggian Reformed Church.

The preamble of the constitution begins with a lamentation that the constitution is only necessary because of the fallen nature of the people of Micras. It continues by saying that there will be a final redemption in the future, making the constitution obsolete. In the meantime, the republic will have to be established as a fallible and imperfect redemptive project.
