Gobbler Attacks

The Gobbler Attacks, also called the Gobbler Flu, was a type of avian flu that spread throughout Slobovia and several other nations in the mid 1600s ASC. The epidemic began in Slobovia and thus affected its population the worst. The epidemic was so bad that it caused the collapse of some very well-established nations of the time, including Slobovia and San Martin.

IRL

In Real Life the Gobbler Attacks were a series of hacker events that impacted nations using InvisionBoard forums around early 2004. At the time, many micronations were still forum-based, primarily using the now-defunct EZBoard. Several, however, used InvisionBoard or InvisionFree as it was deemed a superior platform. Invision's main system was hacked and nearly 90% of all forums were irretrievably deleted. The attack caused some of these nations to fold permanently (not surprising considering a complete loss of work and culture), including Slobovia.
