History

  • Semisa Caprici freedom hero after the Kalirion Fracture, leader of SALAD political wing > SLF
  • Semisa with central role from the Fracture to Hiedler
  • Martyred in D-M
  • Semisa motivated publicly by Sanaman nationalism and privately partly by personal ambition
  • No revolution, SALAD exploited the power vacuum after the Fracture
  • In the chaos, the former institutions didn't function
  • Elections to the Folkraad had established the kernels of democracy and organised nationalism - local folksraads
  • Infrastructure of nationalists in important positions
  • SALAD coordinated the military resistance against Shirerithian rule in the area
  • Order more important than loyalty, many former Shirerithian leaders "transplanted" into the Sanaman bureaucracy, which partly enabled Hiedler and explains why so many non-Sanamans are still in prominent positions in the military and civil service

Culture

Cuisine is rice-based. Several kinds of meat, primarily chicken and fish, but also pork and to a lesser extent beef. Not spicy but savory, often soup-like. Spices include turmeric, ginger, cumin, mild chilies. Dishes include Seting. Meals are usually communal within a household or extended household, with large pots of food that people can take from. Rice, soup, stewed vegetables, various meats like grilled chicken, grilled fish, pork sausages, pork soup, etc.

Sanamans are generally family oriented, often living two or three generations together. Couples usually marry between 25-30 years old and have several children. Religion plays a big role as a cultural framework, setting the calendar providing families with opportunities for larger socialisation with friends and extended family.
