Alduria

  • The 10th Punta Santiago Music Festival is underway in the capital of the Aldurian region. The festival is expected to draw as many as 200,000 people during a 10-day run. It includes amusement rides, a beauty pageant, livestock shows, agriculture exhibits, and live music.
  • Punta Santiago City Police say a baggage handler told them he was drunk when he fell asleep in a cargo hold and flew from Parap to Punta Santiago. Punta Santiago PD spokesman Daniel Sorvino says the Air Alduria employee was found when the flight landed at Punta Santiago International Airport. The spokesman says the handler told police he was intoxicated and had fallen asleep. No charges were filed, and he was sent back to Parap.

Wechua Nation

  • About 500 residents in eastern La Plata County have made a commitment to ensure 10 percent of their food comes from local sources. “It’s a little bit of a challenge, but it’s not intimidating,” says Kami Larson, a Bayfield resident. Residents from Vallecito to Sambrito, New Mexico, have pledged to raise, buy or trade for 10 percent of their food, including meat, dairy, fruits and vegetables, says Pam Willhoite, coordinator of Pine River Shares, a nonprofit. The pledges are part of a larger effort called Field to Fork.

Santander

  • An ultramarathon runner has finished the cross-national run that began in the Port of Judah and ended in Santiago. Pushing supplies in a three-wheel jogging stroller, he said he averaged some 55 miles per day and hoped his feat would inspire others to chase their wildest dreams.
