Disclaimer: This is an Outside Straylight article. There is exactly as much of a game behind what's described here as there are nations behind what's described in other MicrasWiki articles.

Alexi is both a location and the name of the sole NPC inhabiting that location. Characters with a Church of the Machine God origin will start off with access to it, while others will have to do some tasks for Adept Lazio in Wave Manifold first. Alexi is located near the base of Mount Crestfall, in the southwest of the country of Ransenar.

Location description

She says she needed a workshop. Then she needed a bigger workshop. She has needed a bigger workshop a number of times by now.

Interactions

Action Requirements Effects Notes
Help out in the robotics lab

Engineer to engineer. It doesn't matter if everything is automated. It still takes a pair of hands to build the next level.

  • Randomly available
  • Challenge: Devices (92 for 100%)
  • (failure)

    Infernal complexity

You try to make sense of the mechanics of her work, but every part does many different tasks, and the kinematics and connections spiral out of all comprehension. "Don't worry about it," she says. "It's as much a part of me as my body itself. Wait, actually, no. This thing took me twelve iterations to get to this point, and I'm only on my fifth heart."

    Machines of loving grace

You only manage to peel back a few layers of insight in Alexi's designs, but it's enough. She still misses things, after all. It takes many nights of work, but you repurpose a few devices here, reprogram another there, and soon you've made one of her many machines obsolete. "I won't have to worry about oiling that anymore? I won't have to worry about oiling that anymore!"

     +2 x Improbable insight

Clean up in the biochemistry lab

No eating in the lab. You're not sure she eats. She doesn't have enough biology left in her to need much.

  • Randomly available
  • Challenge: Senses (70 for 100%)
  • (failure)

    Only a minor mishap

Everything seemed so in control. But once you actually start touching things, the bases splash, the acids fume, and everything gives you a headache. You break a vial of something, and it wouldn't faze you, if it wasn't for Alexi mentioning that if a drop of it had touched your skin, you would have slowly died over the next several months as the mercury collected into your brain.

     +2 x Stress

  • (success)

    Elements of good style

It's not that everything wasn't already organized. It's just that she came up with a better way to organize everything. In the end, the only thing there isn't room for is a small incubator of bacterial samples. "I was thinking of getting rid of it, actually. I get distracted away from bacteria too often."

     +1 x Living sample

Rewire the particle accelerator

It's only a small linear accelerator, but it's handy for the few transmutations she needs. But it could do more.

  • Randomly available
  • Challenge: Fingers (85 for 100%)
  • (failure)

    A jolt

You set up transformers and capacitors. You trace wires. You test. You suddenly find yourself on the floor on the other side of the room. "That's a lot of volts for flesh." She looks you over. "Lying down is probably the right idea."   +1 x Wound

    A spot of sunlight

It's not really her linear accelerator, not anymore now that you've helped with it. You'll be responsible for a few isotopes now. "Now that I think of it, you know what would really help, though? If I had some proper juice to play with. I have time, so feel free to take some for yourself, but if you find somewhere that can still fill this, I'd be in your debt."

     +1 x Magnetic bottle (empty), +100 x Pon

Deliver filled bottle
  • Magnetic bottle full of antimatter
A thousand years young

Alexi is giddy with excitement as she realizes what you're bringing her. "Did I ever describe just how energy-dense that is? This is only going to be step one, but if I could make an engine for my body that uses that, I could get rid of so much space for fuel! But... ah, I don't think I'll be able to use these, then. Too sensitive to radiation. Just like people."

-1 x Magnetic bottle full of antimatter, +5 x Rod logic processors

Inquire about the Meshed Lands A perfunctory explanation

"Prick a finger and bleed in the right place, and you will find out. I wish I did, but I don't know the mind of the Machine God any better than you do. Maybe you'll find more in the Esagila. The Church did its own research, once."

+1 x Ancient access card to the Esagila of Raynor

Inquire about her past Asking a lady her age

"I don't like to hold on to too many memories of what used to be. Spending resources on something like that was never our way."
