Power production in Sanama

Power production in Sanama consists mostly of a legacy system from the time before independence. At independence, the Sanaman provisional government nationalised the power grid and power generation plants. While the grid was extensively built out by the Shirerithian authorities, primarily to serve industries and military installations, the power generation plants were archaic and largely inefficient.

Future development
Due to a governing agreement between the Sanaman Liberation Front, Coalition 1660 and the Green Alliance, the federal government is committed to transition from oil, natural gas and coal to renewable power sources, such as hydro, nuclear, wind and solar.
