Prefectures of Sevetia
In Sevetia, prefectures form the first level of jurisdiction and administrative division. The current 33 prefectures of Sevetia were created by the Sevetian People's Assembly during the Provisional Government. Prefectures are further subdivided in municipalities.
Each prefecture is ruled by a Government Council, which combines both the executive and legislative powers. Government Councils are headed by a "Prefectural Chief". Prefectural courts from the judicial power.
Prefectural government functions include the organization of the 37 prefectural police forces, the maintenance of schools, hospitals, prefectural roads, etc. Urban planning is coordinated with municipalities.
Prefectures are often grouped into four regions based on their date of creation (with the exception of Miranisen, which is included in Region 3 due to its geographical location). Regions are not an official subdivision type.
