Department of Labor (Nouvelle Alexandrie)
The Department of Labor and Commerce is the department that establishes and coordinates federal policy on occupational safety and health, wage and hour standards, unemployment benefits, re-employment services, pensions, and economic statistics. It also oversees conditions and operations for economic growth and opportunities, economic and demographic data, and industrial standards.
The Department of Labor and Commerce works closely with the Department of Education on matters of apprenticeships and vocational education. It works with the Department of Social Security and National Solidarity on policies of social security, workspace health, and disabled employment.
The Department is headed by a Secretary of Labor and Commerce, who is appointed by the King on the advice of the President of the Government. The Secretary of Research and Development is a member of the Council of State. The department is equivalent to a Labor and Commerce ministry in other nations.
The department was established in 1689 AN to administer the important labor force, economic markets, and pensions. It is headquartered at the Morning Wind Building in the Government Triangle neighbourhood of Cárdenas, FCD. In 1708 AN, the new Department of Trade and Industry took over the parts that were deemed to reside under Commerce.
